Reflection
This past Tuesday evening, I experienced a beautiful moment of giving which I have never seen before. Leigh Anne and I attended the Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors concert at Turner Hall. About 45 minutes into his set, Drew Holcomb took a moment to thank the crew who travels with the band. He closed by saying the young person who runs his “merch” table is one of his favorite young songwriters. He called her up onto stage so she could play one of her songs with the band. Holcomb exited the stage and young Jac Thompson had everyone’s attention and played a great song with The Neighbors. It strikes me that making a living as a performer is hard. Doing a tour demands a lot from everyone and every second you have with your audience is critical. You don’t want to lose them. In that moment, Holcomb completely won me over. For me, from what I could tell, Holcomb provided something of great value with no expectation of compensation. He invested in another person for their own development and growth and to celebrate her as a fellow artist. A tremendous act of recognition. I hope to live my Christian faith out with a similar orientation. We get to carry each other. Amen.
We have a lot coming up in the next few weeks.
Building Kairos Collective
As we mentioned last Wednesday evening, we are working to take Kairos Collective to a new phase where our community engages more fully while also developing a more solid financial foundation. To do this, we are asking everyone to think deeply about what they want their involvement to be over the rest of this year. We want to engage you more deeply in building this community and imagine with you what this might look like. Please read through the engagement worksheet (attached) to see some of the various ways you might be involved. Let us know if there are new avenues we’re missing. In addition, please consider giving financially. I look forward to having discussions with everyone about how we can do this together. See the activity page as an attachment and a link for giving. Our intent is to collect these activity pages by our June Dinner Church meeting.
